Reducing Malnutrition Among Children in Sundarbans in West Bengal :- DSWS is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of our communities through a range of impactful activities. Our focus areas include capacity building of mothers' groups on important topics such as Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), and maternal nutrition. We are equally committed to empowering adolescents by strengthening their knowledge on sexual and reproductive health. Moreover, we conduct orientation training for government frontline workers, such as AWW, ASHA, and ANM, to enhance their skills in case management. To engage and educate mothers, we organize health fair programs where we deliver messages and demonstrate low-cost recipes. Our dedication to hygiene and sanitation is evident in the training sessions we provide on WASH issues in local schools, and the installation of water treatment plants for safe drinking water access. We actively celebrate important days like Breastfeeding Week, Nutrition Week, and World Water Day to raise mass awareness. Additionally, we prioritize community governance and accountability through the use of community score cards. Through these efforts, we have successfully identified and referred undernourished children to Nutrition Rehabilitation Centers (NRCs) and First Referral Units (FRUs) for appropriate care. Our achievements include capacitating 1,565 mothers, empowering 777 adolescents, orienting 120 frontline workers, training 1,960 school-going children, benefiting 300 families with water treatment plants, reaching 6,480 individuals through community score cards, and facilitating the referral and admission of 127 children to receive necessary care.
